Story: Advanced interactive website

I discovered Webflow in 2019 and have been using it occasionally. I enjoy website development on Webflow, but most clients prefer WordPress and Wix. They generally don’t request heavily interactive websites, and I haven’t encountered any pushback.

I created a prototype for a client and mentioned some interactions on Figma. However, the programmer did not understand sticky interaction. In response, I developed sticky interaction on Webflow. While researching on YouTube, I found that Timothy Ricks was using GSAP for scroll interaction. It is possible that he does not use JS, I assume. However, it is nice to utilize the full Webflow potential with JS. I wrote the JS blog a while ago. In this blog, I would like to focus on GSAP.

GSAP is an industry-standard JavaScript animation library from GreenSock that lets you craft high-performance animations that work in every major browser.

I can follow what he is doing. I learned basic HTML and CSS in 2010. Nowadays, I don’t have a chance to write code for client projects. We have a visual builder, but understanding the basic structure of code is essential for a web designer. I don’t think I spend time writing code, even with ChatGPT. I will hire someone if I need to.

Nice interaction, especially the text-revealing interaction. Screen transitions can be implemented in Webflow with a small amount of coding.

Master of JS. Webflow developer who knows code is strong, but I am continuing as a no-code Webflow developer right now. I have to learn a lot about sales and marketing.

Conclusion: Curiosity, desire and timing

I think many Webflow users, like myself, avoid JS and PHP. I attempted to learn coding through Lynda.com, but I dropped out—not just once. It’s genuinely uninteresting to me.

That being said, I purchased a JS and PHP course on Udemy.com a while ago. I have a curiosity as well as a desire to overcome my weakness. I believe the time will come in the future, just not now.

As I mentioned at the beginning, I was developing a sticky interaction this afternoon. I feel good when I achieve what I expected. Advanced interaction website development is enjoyable.
