I am currently experimenting with AI tools that can be utilized in real web design projects, with a particular focus on animation. While static images are fine, they often lack that extra impact and fail to capture the user’s attention. In 2023, we no longer need to start from scratch and master Adobe After Effects to achieve the desired effects. Even a small tweak can make a significant difference.
In my current exploration, I have tested PeiaPix.
LeiaPix
As I landed on the home page, I noticed that there weren’t many choices available. It was a straightforward decision to either proceed or not. In just one sentence, I could easily understand what LeiaPix is all about: LeiaPix Converter enables users to transform their favorite images into captivating Depth Animations. I’ve come across similar landing pages on Google Ads, it was Wix, where there is no navigation or scrolling involved, and the focus is on a single call-to-action. Personally, I didn’t have any issues with this approach and found it effective.

The signup process was simple. I personally don’t want to inform my birthday though, to be honest. When personal information is exploded by cyber attack, it may be the issue. I hope it won’t. PeiaPix does not mention any pricing. As I mentioned, there was no nav on the home page. So, I don’t know the pricing.
Experience with LeiaPix Vol.1
I generated the image by Midjourney. Once I uploaded the image, it was already animated. There are many settings., X(horizontal), Y(vertical), and Z(depth). I could export GIFs as well as MP4. The file size was not large. This is interesting and useful. I can apply this to the actual project.
Experience with LeiaPix Vol.2
This time, I had to work for an edge, the border between the object and the background. I used a depth map and it arrows me to adjust the edge, but I found some difficulty. I could undo only the previous editing. There is no pen tool, only a brush. I could not confirm how editing changed the outcome until I save it. Once I save it, I could not backward. You can find some weirdness on the edge of a whale.
Experience with LeiaPix Vol.3
I expected more depth, mulch-layered, but I could not achieve it. If I could animate a specific object, a shooting star, with easing on the image, that’s great. I look forward to using the next version of LeiaPix.
Conclusion: Passing score
I tested 3 images with LeiaPix and the first one was the best. LeiaPix proves to be a valuable tool for web designers seeking to take their projects to the next level. I encourage you to test it out and surprise your clients with the results.
I have recently been contemplating the meaning of AI, as it is often synonymous with large language models. In the case of LeiaPix, I didn’t need to provide any specific prompts; I simply uploaded an image and LeiaPix generated an animation based on it.
Many similar services, generating visual graphics, rely on Nvidia, which is a GPU technology rather than an ambiguous meaning of AI. I would like to make AI tools by AI someday. Until then, I remain open to exploring and utilizing AI-powered tools in my work. I hope to discover more applications that harness the power of AI in the future.
