Story: Know your audience

If you have a own website, you should install below.

– Google Analytics 4 (Universal Analytics)
– Google Search Console
– Google Tag Manager

And today’s topic, Facebook Pixel. Because a lot of people, 2.85 billion monthly active users worldwide, use Facebook. I understand that TikTok may have better engagement. IG may be more fun. Recently, Meta focuses on Metaverse, but Facebook is still top of social media in some way. You may not use Facebook Ads right now. However, understanding how to set up Facebook Pixel may be helpful to set up other social media(tracking code). If you know Google Ads, Facebook Ads and LinkedIn Ads, you know that these are similar structures after all.

I am using Facebook Ads and Facebook Pixel, but I do not set up events. So, I would like to understand how to set up an event and how it works.

The reference on this page covers a lot. I, at least, need to understand how to create and install pixels, set up events, and custom conversions.

I stumbled into the conversion API process. There are so many checkboxes at the select event details tag. I had no idea what I additionally need to check them. I searched for some ideas, but I could not find a solution. In the end, I follow the best practice, the button in the top right corner.

[UPDATED] How To Set Up Facebook Conversion API w/ Google Tag Manager (Server-Side)

The Conversions API is designed to create a direct connection between your marketing data and the systems which help optimize ad targeting, decrease cost per action and measure results across Meta technologies. – Meta

Facebook conversion API
– Facebook event manager(prepare basic pixel) → Google Tag Manager → tags → new → Discover more tag types in the Community Template Gallery. → Facebook Pixel
*I could not find Facebook Pixel tags at Google Tag Manager by default. You need to click, Discover more tag types in the Community Template Gallery.

I saw the word, server-side, when I searched for conversion API. The video shows Google Clouds for it. It costs you a fee. I don’t want that right now. Installing conversion API correctly is the goal for this blog.

Conclusion: Complicated…

It was not easy for me to set up Google Pixel properly. It is a little bit scary as an internet user. I don’t think Facebook Pixel provides individual information to advertisers, but it captures a lot of information for just one click.

It was so much information since I installed GA4. I will review the benefit of Google Tag Manager, GA4, Facebook Pixel, and Conversion API next year.
